Mr Wonderful and I have been working on the yard this week. We will be getting flood irrigation water for the first time since December. We have a gopher problem. They dig tunnels and we have problems keeping our water in the yard. Oldest grandson, Chewie, came over and helped Mr Wonderful aka 'Pappa' fill sandbags in case we need them. We have the philosophy that if we are prepared for a problem, then maybe we WON'T HAVE flooding issues.
Chewie insisted on shoveling the sand into all of the bags, I closed the bags, and Mr Wonderful relocated them to the berm of dirt out front. Chewie was a BIG help!
Chewie and some of the sandbags he filled.
All the work is finished. The sand not in bags is in the driveway ready for Chewie's next trip over to granny's house. We'll put sand on more gopher holes and give them some aggravation for a change. Chewing having some fun swinging after a job well done.
Toughie on his quad. He came to play.
Yesterday, Mr Wonderful started the day by irrigating our yard. He used every one of the sand bags filled the previous day to prevent a flood. It was his first 'real' day off in over two weeks, so not much time to play, or in his case, watch TV, do Suduko puzzles, read and nap in his favorite chair. Note: We did make it to lunch at the Which Wich sandwich shop over across from the AMC Theater by the Cardinal's stadium. Ebbi from church is the hardworking manager. Mr Wonderful and I highly recommend their sandwiches. We wrote what we wanted on a paper bag--actually, just checked off what we wanted. After we paid, they hung the sack on a wire, made the sandwiches and called our names when they were finished. We were free to get our sodas, claim our table and chat for a bit before getting our sandwiches. It was nice not to have to stand in a big long line as in the kid's other favorite sandwich shop.
