Orange and Strawberry Smoothies

Toughie requested his favorite "strawberry" drink after school today. He shared it with Auntie Deidre. I sent Mr Wonderful off to work this morning with an omelet crammed full of veggies and a bit of cheese and his favorite orange smoothie drink. Danielle has also started drinking an orange smoothie before heading out for a long day of work. I decided to share my "secret" (only because no one has asked for them) smoothie recipes. Feel free to share yours with me.

Mr Wonderful's Favorite Orange Smoothie--serves one or two....

6-8 ounces orange juice.
He loves plain yogurt, but Danielle loves to add:
1 6-ounce carton low fat Very Vanilla Yoplait Yogurt
1 scoop protein powder (Mr Wonderful's current one is a very large bag sold at Costco called EAS Premium Protein--Vanilla flavor--Use whatever brand you like.)
dash of vanilla
a few ice cubes

Add to blender. We have a small two cup blender they use especially for the smoothies. Pour into one or two tall glasses and enjoy.

Toughie's Favorite Strawberry Smoothie

4 fresh strawberries--"Lettuce removed" (What he calls the green tops, does that crack you up or what?)
6-8 ounces low fat milk
1 scoop protein powder
1 six ounce container Very vanilla Yoplait yogurt, OR plain yogurt and he wants 1 scant tablespoon sugar added. (I feel it is still a healthy drink.)
dash of vanilla--(Let him smell the vanilla before adding it to the blender.)
a few ice cubes. Blend until smooth. Toughie LOVES to run the blender.
ENJOY! They level out your blood sugar and good quick mini meal or healthy drink between or with meals.
